It’s In Our Hands

Gandhi’s advice to “be the change we want to see in the world” is timeless in its relevance to the state of humanity at any given time in our history. Less widely quoted but equally astute was his observation that “a small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history”.
Our challenge, then, is to discover the mission which inspires that “unquenchable faith” within us and pursue it fervently. The options are many, but none is less important than another: what is important is that we act now.
My action plan is still in the development stage. I have to be mindful of my tendency to try to eat the whole elephant at once, which generally leads to motivational indigestion and an overall distaste for elephants of any kind.
I am determined to make a difference. I will be the change I want to see in the world. And I will do so comforted by the knowledge that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
